Short answer
The best Tody alternative depends on why you are leaving. Sweepy suits households that want a daily plan made for each person, House Chores and BeTidy suit families that rotate chores, Tidy suits a simple checklist, and ADHD Cleaning Planner, which we make, suits people with ADHD who struggle to start. All five are free to download.
On this page
We make ADHD Cleaning Planner, which is one of the apps in this comparison. We have tried to be fair to all of them, including where another app is the better choice. Tody is the app you are presumably moving away from, so it is the reference point here, but it is not one of the five we compare in depth.
Tody is a well-liked app. On the day we checked it was rated 4.8 from about 11,000 ratings on the App Store and 4.7 from about 21,700 on Google Play, and it had been updated that same day. It manages cleaning by indicators of need rather than by dates, which is exactly why some people look elsewhere. In public reviews we analysed in June 2026, the reasons people gave for wanting something different were mostly these: they wanted fixed dates or a calendar, adding a partner or a second device meant paying for Premium, and on Android the app shows ads, as its Google Play listing says. If you want Tody measured against its best-known rival first, we have compared Sweepy and Tody directly.
Quick comparison
We checked the public store listings on 16 October 2026. Prices differ by country and change often, so the table describes how each app is paid for rather than the price.
| App | Platforms | How it is paid for |
|---|---|---|
| iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Android | Free, with a monthly or yearly subscription and a 3-day trial | |
| iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Android | Free, with a monthly, yearly or lifetime purchase | |
| iPhone, iPad, Android | Free, with a monthly or yearly subscription | |
| iPhone, Android | Free, with a Pro subscription or lifetime purchase | |
| iPhone, iPad, Android | Free, with a subscription or one-time lifetime purchase |
One more difference that matters if you are leaving Tody on Android: Tody's Google Play listing says it contains ads, and none of the five Google Play listings below says so.
What is Sweepy good at?

Sweepy is the closest thing to Tody with a schedule. It tracks how clean each room is and which tasks are most urgent, like Tody, but then it automatically generates a daily cleaning schedule for each person in the home and spreads the workload between them. It syncs between devices, shows your progress, and has a leaderboard for the household. It has an Apple Watch app, which Tody's listing does not mention. It is rated 4.7 from about 11,000 ratings on the App Store and 4.5 from about 18,500 on Google Play.
In public reviews we analysed in June 2026, couples and families praised the leaderboard for turning chores into a friendly competition, and many reviewers described Sweepy as easy to use.
The less good side: in those same reviews, the most common complaint was about what is free. Reviewers said the daily schedule, custom tasks and adding family members were part of the subscription, which some found out only after setting up their home. Another recurring complaint was that an account is needed before you can try the app. On the day we checked, the Google Play version was last updated in November 2025.
Best for: couples and families who want the app to hand each person a plan for the day, and who are happy to pay for it.
What is House Chores good at?

House Chores Cleaning Schedule, listed on the App Store as Home Tasker, works with preset tasks and custom rooms with checklists. Its listing describes recurring rotations of chores between household members, team assignments with notifications, a Vacation Mode that pauses or reassigns someone's tasks, streaks and badges, daily reminders, and an AI Room Scan that suggests tasks from a room's condition. It syncs across iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch. It is rated 4.8 from about 3,000 ratings on the App Store and 4.5 from about 10,600 on Google Play.
Where Tody leaves you to decide, House Chores is built around handing out tasks. It also sells a one-time lifetime purchase next to its monthly and yearly subscriptions. No free trial is shown on the App Store listing.
The less good side: in public reviews we analysed in June 2026, a common complaint was that signing in needed a Google or Facebook account. Paid features for adding family members came up often too, and some reviewers reported that reminders did not always arrive.
Best for: families and shared homes that want chores rotated between people, especially if someone uses an Apple Watch.
What is Tidy good at?

Tidy describes itself as a planner for cleaning, organising and everyday tasks. Its listing mentions an automatically generated daily checklist, progress tracking, seasonal checklists and cleaning tips, with a subscription that adds a personal cleaning plan and extra content. It is rated 4.7 from about 1,900 ratings on the App Store and 4.3 from about 1,900 on Google Play.
Tidy suits people who left Tody because they want to be told what to do today rather than read indicators. The App Store listing shows different subscription prices in its description and in its list of in-app purchases, so check the price inside the app before you commit.
The less good side: our June 2026 analysis of Tidy reviews was small, 144 reviews, so treat the pattern with care. Within that sample, the most common complaint was the paywall, including being asked to pay before testing the app. The Tidy listing does not describe sharing with other people.
Best for: people on their own who want a plain daily checklist and do not mind a paid tier.
What is BeTidy good at?

BeTidy builds a yearly cleaning plan and a daily task list from the recurring chores you add, with optional reminders. Its listing also describes step-by-step home organisation projects, shared family profiles for assigning tasks, and a points ranking that motivates everyone in the house. It is rated 4.6 from about 270 ratings on the App Store and 4.5 from about 1,550 on Google Play. On Apple devices the listing says it is for iPhone only.
For someone leaving Tody, BeTidy offers the fixed yearly plan that Tody does not have, while keeping household sharing. It also sells a lifetime purchase next to its Pro subscription.
The less good side: in our June 2026 review analysis, the most common complaints about BeTidy were about the paywall, with reminders and family features part of Pro. On the day we checked, the Google Play version was last updated in October 2025.
Best for: iPhone households that want a yearly plan and want to split tasks between people.
What is ADHD Cleaning Planner good at?

ADHD Cleaning Planner is the app we make, so read this section with that in mind. It is built for people with ADHD and breaks cleaning into small tasks, room by room. The usual rooms come with small tasks already filled in, and a quick house setup asks how many bathrooms and bedrooms you have and whether you have an office, so you do not build the plan task by task. You pick low, some or full energy for the day and the plan is sized to match. For moments when you cannot get going, a "Help, I can't start!" button gives a countdown, and a Quick Win offers a five-minute task. There is also a timer, before and after photos, timelapse videos, daily reminders and ten levels of gamification. There is no account to create. It is rated 4.8 from 101 ratings on the App Store and 4.4 from 64 on Google Play.
It suits people who left Tody not because of how it schedules, but because they struggle with starting cleaning at all. If ADHD is your main reason for switching, we judged four apps on that alone in which cleaning app works best with ADHD. You can pay by subscription, with a free trial on the yearly plan, or with a one-time lifetime purchase.
Best for: people with ADHD who struggle to start, and who keep the plan to themselves.
Where ADHD Cleaning Planner falls short
Compared with the others in this article, our main limitation is household sharing. Tody lets household members sync plans and claim credit, and Sweepy, House Chores and BeTidy all describe sharing tasks between people. ADHD Cleaning Planner's listing does not describe sharing a plan with other people or giving each person their own tasks. If sharing with a partner or family is what you liked about Tody, one of those three will serve you better.
Which one should you choose?
- You want the app to make a daily plan for each person: Sweepy, which has the most ratings of the five.
- You share chores in a family and want rotations: House Chores, especially with an Apple Watch, or BeTidy if your home is on iPhone.
- You live alone and want a simple daily checklist: Tidy.
- Starting is your hardest part: ADHD Cleaning Planner, which we make. It does not share plans with other people, so it is a poor fit for a household.
If none of these fits and Sweepy's paywall worries you, we also compared five Sweepy alternatives, which puts Tody itself among the options. All five apps here are free to download, so set up one or two rooms first, rather than the whole house, and find out what the free version covers before you have spent an evening on it.
